Lebedyan Local History Museum named after P. N. Chermensky

The Lebedyan Local History Museum named after P. N. Chermensky is one of the oldest in the Lebedyan district. It was founded in 1919 under the leadership of the founder of scientific local history in the Lebedyan uyezd, historian P. N. Chermensky. In 1956 the museum was closed and its exhibits were transferred to the regional museum in Lipetsk. In the late 1960s the museum was revived in Lebedyan. The museum's exhibition presents the history of the Lebedyan district from ancient times to the present. The museum has six halls where visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the famous Lebedyan fairs, learn about the history of the Racing Society and the Agricultural Society, view coins and banknotes, archaeological finds, household antiques, get acquainted with the past and present of the famous Lebedyan monasteries, as well as with provincial architecture of the 17th–20th centuries.
