The state cultural institution "House of Ded Moroz" was established in 2003 to implement the principal objectives of the "Veliky Ustyug — the homeland of Ded Moroz" project. Its main goals are to form a new image of Ded Moroz as a wise friend and advisor, to revive folk traditions and the culture of celebrating the New Year as a family holiday. The institution cooperates with public organizations, charitable foundations, and cultural, educational, and sports institutions. Main areas of activity include promoting the "Veliky Ustyug — the homeland of Ded Moroz" brand, participating in the organization and holding of large-scale and creative events, popularizing the image of the Russian Ded Moroz, and supporting creative ensembles and associations. The center is located 10 km from the town of Veliky Ustyug, on the grounds of Ded Moroz's estate.
