Krasnogvardeysky Local History Museum
About museum
The Krasnogvardeysky Local History Museum underwent a long development from a community museum founded with the active participation of enthusiasts to a municipal cultural institution. A building of the district House of Culture was allocated to the museum, and the museum council, consisting of 13 people, was chaired by the well-known local historian Mitrofan Petrovich Lozenko. Both professional local historians and schoolchildren and antiquities enthusiasts took part in collecting exhibits for the museum. The official opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the USSR Constitution on October 7, 1979. In 2003 the museum moved into the 18th-century architectural monument "Biryuch Trading Rows", built with funds from the local merchant community in 1782. This architectural complex consists of two buildings and is one of two similar architectural monuments in the Belgorod Region.
