Local History Museum of the Chapayevsk Urban District
About museum
The establishment of the museum of the Chapayevsk Chemical Fertilizer Plant at the A. M. Gorky Palace of Culture dates back to 1968. The work of organizing and stocking the museum was entrusted to plant employees: P. A. Kudryavtseva, M. N. Zvorykina, E. K. Bolshakova, V. I. Marulina and P. P. Mokhnacheva. In 1999 the museum obtained legal entity status and became a municipal institution. The historian and local scholar M. S. Chigrinev was appointed director. In 2005 the museum became part of the municipal institution "A. M. Gorky Palace of Culture", and since 2011 it has been a structural subdivision of the Municipal Budgetary Institution "Sociocultural Leisure Complex" of the Chapayevsk Urban District. The museum has a total area of 142 sq. m and an exhibition area of 115 sq. m. The collection comprises 4,147 exhibits and 12 permanent exhibitions dedicated to the history of the city and its key industries, as well as items of ethnography, numismatics, phaleristics (orders and medals), notaphily (banknotes), photographs and documentary materials, letters, orders, and personal items and belongings of people who brought fame to the city.
