Klin Local History Museum
About museum
Klin Local History Museum was opened in February 1963; its initiators were teachers from Klin schools. In 1977 the museum became state-owned and joined the Moscow Regional Museum. In 2013 the museum celebrated its 50th anniversary. During this time the staff carried out extensive research in the field of local history. Today visitors can learn about the culture and way of life of Klin’s inhabitants from the 14th to the 19th centuries. The museum houses 25,000 exhibits, including paintings, graphic works, numismatic items, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, as well as documents, books, and photographs. The permanent exhibition consists of four sections: 'Klin in Antiquity' (14th–18th centuries), 'The Klin Region in the 19th Century', 'The Klin Region during the Great Patriotic War', and 'Nature of the Klin Region'. The museum actively organizes exhibitions in the fields of local history, fine art, and natural science. Various collections are on display to help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the life and culture of Klin.
