About museum
In 1917 the Kamensky District Local History Museum was founded in the Kamensky District. The idea to create the museum arose after the discovery of fossil animal bones in Allakskaya Sueva. More than 2 tons of fossil exhibits were brought to the museum. Mikhail Antonovich Krukovsky was appointed head of the zemstvo department of public education and took the museum's exhibits under his supervision. Currently the museum houses over 29,000 items representing history from the Neolithic to the present day. The collection includes archaeology, numismatics, ethnography, written and photographic sources, visual materials, weapons, and natural science materials. The museum has 5 exhibition sections, and the collection is formed by state and public institutions, archives, educational institutions, publishers, and private individuals.
