Kizilsky Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
The Kizilsky Historical and Local History Museum is located on the site where the Kizilskaya fortress was founded in the 18th century. It comprises two historic buildings: a wooden planked house and a brick wing with pilasters and arched windows topped with decorative window pediments. The main building houses permanent exhibitions, while the adjacent building serves as an exhibition hall for temporary exhibitions of regional significance. Until 1882 these buildings belonged to the merchant Gogin. The museum has become a shrine of history for the Kizilsky municipal district and is valuable for the study of the history of the Cossacks, the life of the Kizil Cossacks, archaeological excavations, ancient Aryan settlements, and the natural world of the native region.
