Gorky Palace of Culture, Kurgan
About museum
The Palace of Culture was built in 1969. The concert hall, with 400 seats, hosts festive events, themed programs, and competitions.
Currently, classes are organized in 16 hobby groups, studios, and interest clubs, attended by about 500 people.
Two of the institution's creative ensembles have been awarded the title "People's" — these are the Russian song ensemble "Vo Gorenke" (director — Honored Cultural Worker of Russia Vyacheslav Dmitrievich Zaveyboroda) and the Kurgan teachers' choir "Sozvuchie" (director — Honored Cultural Worker of Russia Alexander Nikolaevich Mikhaylenko). The children's vocal ensemble, the creative center Gamma, has been awarded the title "Exemplary Collective" (directors — Anton and Olga Astafyev).
Every year the Palace of Culture hosts open city competitions: the vocal mastery competition "Art-Arena" and the artistic recitation contest "My Trans-Ural Region Is Rich in Talent".
