M.V. Lomonosov Historical and Memorial Museum
About museum
In 1940, in memory of the great Russian scientist M.V. Lomonosov, a historical and memorial museum was opened in his native region. On November 5, 2004, after the merger of three museums in the Kholmogorsky district, the municipal cultural institution 'M.V. Lomonosov Historical and Memorial Museum' offers visitors the opportunity to study monuments of history and material and spiritual culture. The museum's main collection comprises 4,859 inventory items, the scientific and auxiliary collection — 5,003, and the library's book collection — 3,038. The museum regularly holds events dedicated to M.V. Lomonosov, and all conditions have been created for studying his life and scientific legacy. The museum building, built in 1892, is surrounded by three annexes that house exhibitions and a conference hall. New museum equipment and technical means are used in the museum; the exhibition has been completely renewed twice, and new materials and exhibits are being introduced.
