Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Udmurt Republic 'Idnakar' named after M.G. Ivanova
About museum
The Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve of the Udmurt Republic 'Idnakar' named after M. G. Ivanova is the only archaeological museum-reserve in Udmurtia. The basis of the museum is the federal monument 'Idnakar Hillfort IX–XIII centuries', located 4 km from the center of the city of Glazov, as well as the building that houses the exhibitions, displays and collections. The museum features three permanent exhibitions, two exhibition halls and archaeological collections that include unique materials from sites in the Cheptsa River basin. These collections cover the Polom culture (5th–8th centuries AD) and the Cheptsa culture (9th–13th centuries AD) and allow one to trace the history and ethnogenesis of the Udmurt population of the Cheptsa River basin. Next to the museum building is the unique interactive complex 'Fortress of the Bogatyr Idna', where visitors can see a section of the fortification wall, a model of a medieval smithy, an archaeological 'sandbox' and a model of the Idnakar hillfort.
