About museum
The Bezhetsk Literary-Memorial and Local History Museum is located in the historic center of the town, in the building of the city school where Vyacheslav Shishkov studied in 1882–1888. It was founded on March 1, 1918 by Nikolai Sverchkov, the nephew of Nikolai Gumilyov. The museum features two exhibitions: one dedicated to Vyacheslav Shishkov and the other to Vasily Andreyev. The Shishkov exhibition displays the writer's works, his festive costume, traditional fur boots (унты), a chum (traditional tent), household items of the Evenks from the 19th century, and gifts presented to the museum by the writer's widow. The Vasily Andreyev exhibition includes his mother's belongings, a chair from his apartment in St. Petersburg, posters and concert programs, and a collection of unique musical instruments made by craftsmen of the late 19th – early 20th centuries. The museum is equipped to accommodate visitors with limited mobility.
