About museum
In 1996, the Historical and Local Lore Hall was opened in the settlement of Ust-Omchug, Tenkovsky District; the idea belonged to geologist I. V. Gribanova. In the 1930s–1950s three camps were located here, including Butugychag. The Hall contains documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, prisoners' personal effects and their correspondence dedicated to pioneering geologists, mines and gold prospecting sites, the construction of the Tenkinskaya Road and the camp life of the inmates. This hall is one of the cultural attractions of Magadan Oblast.
