About museum
In recent years the museum has been visited by more than 200,000 people. On April 1, 1989, the museum was founded on a voluntary basis. History teacher Nikolay Filippovich Kiryanov was appointed to lead it; in the first year he attracted more than 2,012 visitors and 591 exhibits. In 1991 Lydia Petrovna Kozlova became the museum's director. The current director is Gennady Timofeyevich Savostin, who during his tenure has attracted more than 200,000 visitors. In 2016 the museum building was completely renovated, which led to an increase in the number of exhibits to 4,452 items. The museum is a popular place to visit and to study the history of the native region.
