\n\nMBUK "N.Ya. Savchenko Historical and Local Lore Museum" is a center for the civic‑patriotic education of youth. It was opened on July 5, 1985, and since then it has been visited by more than 456,000 people. The museum's holdings exceed 37,000 exhibits, and the library contains 3,000 volumes. The museum consists of two buildings: the main building and a display/exhibition area. The main building presents exhibitions reflecting the history of the town and district, the Great Patriotic War (World War II), as well as displays in memory of Heroes of Socialist Labour, Heroes of the Soviet Union, and honorary citizens. The display area houses military equipment and vintage cars. In 2001 the museum received a diploma in the "Window to Russia" competition and was entered in the "Golden Book of Culture of Novosibirsk Oblast" in the category "Institution of the Year — 'Golden Light of the Hearth'". It is recognized as a unique repository of history and has become one of the best museums in Russia.
