At the Kirensk Museum you can learn about the history and culture of the Kirensk region and feel pride in your land. The Kirensk Historical and Local Lore Museum is located in a building constructed in 1894 for a girls' gymnasium. During the Soviet period it housed school workshops and a kindergarten. In 1993 the building was converted into a museum. Over the long period of its existence much has changed, but the people who worked here understood their mission and ensured the preservation of traditions. Today the museum holds more than 20,000 exhibits, including halls of archaeology, ethnography, history, military glory, and an art gallery. Here you can learn about the history and culture of the Kirensk region and feel pride in your land.
