The Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve 'Kalos Limen' was established in 1997 and was officially approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Crimean ASSR in 1991. In 2001 the museum-reserve was supplemented by the Black Sea Historical and Local History Museum, which made it possible to form a unified historical and archaeological complex. The reserve is engaged in the study, preservation and promotion of the region's historical and cultural heritage. The key areas of activity of the museum-reserve are: monument protection, scientific research, scientific and methodological work, cultural and educational activities, acquisition and development of museum collections, exhibition activities, collection accounting and management, publishing and restoration activities. The reserve provides the opportunity to study the region's historical and cultural heritage, to preserve it and to popularize it.
