Bilibinsky Local History Museum named after G.S. Glazyrin

About museum

Bilibinsky Museum has existed for more than 50 years. It was established in 1972 at the initiative of hydrogeologist Grigory Sergeyevich Glazyrin. In 2002 it was granted the status of the municipal cultural institution "Bilibinsky District Local History Museum named after G.S. Glazyrin". The museum's main tasks are the preservation and study of monuments of material and spiritual culture, the storage, identification and collection of museum items and museum collections, as well as educational and outreach activities. During its existence the museum has accumulated a large fund of documents, photographs, video materials, and awards dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. For its work the museum was awarded certificate No. 9018 "Leading Cultural Institution of Russia". The museum organizes events for patriotic education: exhibitions, celebrations, lecture series, competitions, with participation from students and pupils of the city's educational institutions.
