Bizhbulyak Historical and Ethnographic Museum

On November 25, 1994, the Bizhbulyak Historical and Ethnographic Museum was opened in the Bizhbulyak district. It includes more than 6,000 exhibits, which are visited by over 3,000 people annually. The museum displays photographs and personal belongings of local historians P. N. Kudryashev and A. F. Semenov. The first hall is dedicated to the socio-economic and natural-climatic characteristics of the district, the history of Bizhbulyak, a relief map of the district, and taxidermy of animals and birds. The second hall is ethnographic, showing the interior of a peasant house and courtyard, household items, national costumes, embroidery and weaving. The third hall is devoted to military history, the Civil and the Great Patriotic Wars, the establishment of Soviet power in the district, repressions, and the cosmonaut Andrian Nikolayev. The museum also houses a large collection of Chuvash ethnographic items.
