Guards Red Banner submarine «S-56»
About museum
In 1936 the Guards Red Banner submarine S-56 was laid down at the Leningrad Shipbuilding Plant. It was later transferred to the Vladivostok Ship Repair Plant. On board the submarine there is an exhibition presenting the history of the development of Russia's submarine forces in the Pacific, as well as documentary materials and exhibits reflecting the combat service of the S-56. There are seven compartments on board: five contain exhibitions, while in the remaining two the boat's equipment and machinery have been preserved in their original condition. At the central control post you can see the dive and surfacing planes, the periscope, the navigator's table, and high-pressure air cylinders. In the officers' mess compartment and the commander's cabin there are models of submarines, and in the 1st compartment — torpedo tubes with a combat load of torpedoes and the bunks of the submariners.
