Yeisk District Local History Museum
About museum
The museum in the stanitsa of Yasenskaya was opened in 1976 and originally operated as a public institution. In 1984 the museum received its first award — a medal from the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation, and in 1992 it was awarded the title 'People's'. Since 2007 the museum has been a municipal cultural institution with branches in the stanitsas of Dolzhanskaya, Kopanskaya and Kamyshevatkaya. The museum's exhibition covers a wide range of themes: Cossack life in the early 20th century, the history of Yeisk District during the Great Patriotic War, and the contemporary traditional cultures of various peoples. Special attention is paid to the collection of birds and mammals of the Kuban, which consists of more than 900 specimens. In 2008 the museum became a laureate of the honorary badge 'Public Recognition', and in 2015 it was entered into the All-Russian Register 'Book of Honor'.
