Baymak Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
In 1979 the Baymak Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened; it houses four exhibition halls. The first displays objects of the economic life of the Bashkirs of the 17th–19th centuries, including a cross-section of a yurt, clothing, household utensils, implements for livestock breeding, beekeeping and agriculture, traditional men's and women's clothing, as well as a pre-revolutionary breast ornament of a Bashkir woman. The second hall shows the development of industry in the district, in particular gold mining in the Baymak area, as well as a photo stand of working dynasties and shelving with the tools of gold-miner workers. The third hall is devoted to the contribution of the district's and town's residents to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War: photographs, written sources, military uniforms, weapons and other items are exhibited here. The last hall provides information about the first inhabitants of the settlement Tanalykovo-Baymak and about notable people. The museum also hosts themed exhibitions and meetings with well-known people and war and labor heroes.
