Baymak Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
In 1979 the Baymak Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened; it has four exhibition halls. The first displays household items of the Bashkirs from the 17th–19th centuries, including a cross-section of a yurt, clothing, domestic utensils, implements for animal husbandry, beekeeping and agriculture, traditional men's and women's clothing, as well as a pre-revolutionary breast ornament of a Bashkir woman. The second hall shows the development of industry in the district, in particular gold mining in the Baymak area, as well as a photo display of working dynasties and a rack with tools used by gold miners. The third hall is dedicated to the contribution of the district's and town's residents to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War: it exhibits photographs, written documents, military uniforms, weapons and other items. The last hall tells about the first inhabitants of the Tanalykovo-Baymak settlement and notable people. The museum also hosts themed exhibitions, meetings with prominent people and heroes of war and labor.
