V. G. Korolenko House Museum
About museum
Vladimir Korolenko's dacha is a two-story stone house located in the mountains near the sea. Here he wrote his remarkable memoirs and sent more than 400 pieces of correspondence to various magazines. The dacha is surrounded by forest, as well as a garden, a vineyard and a melon patch. A distinctive feature of the estate is a Lebanese cedar planted by the writer's brother that is over 130 years old. In the 1940s an attempt was made to establish a museum, but wartime events prevented its realization. Eventually, in 1964 a full-fledged museum opened where you can see everything that remains of Korolenko. The roof of the wing gently merges into the rock, and several utility rooms are carved into the mountain. This is the only Korolenko museum in Russia where you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of his residence and learn the history of its creation.
