M. M. Prishvin House-Museum (a branch of the State Literary Museum named after V. I. Dahl)
About museum
In 1946 M. M. Prishvin bought a summer house in the village of Dunino, where he spent the last eight years of his life. In 1954 his readers came to this house and met V. D. Prishvina, the writer's wife. Thus a museum established on a voluntary basis was opened, which existed until 1979 and was then donated to the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR and became a branch of the State Literary Museum. It was built in 1901 by Finnish-born M. Yu. Oswald to her own taste and reflects the influence of northern traditions. In 1941 the house was ransacked, but Prishvin bought "the ruins of a beautiful house" and gradually restored it. The museum presents the author's original living environment, his library, personal belongings and a Moskvich-400 car. Visitors can stroll along linden and spruce avenues, through an apple orchard, and breathe in the scents of dog rose, jasmine and lilac that grow on the grounds. This museum-reserve on the bank of the Moskva River is of interest both as a historical and cultural monument and as a nature reserve.
