About museum
The Literary and Art Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War was opened on February 23, 1988 in Borki, Velikoluksky District. The organizer and founder of the museum was Ivan Afanasevich Vasilyev — a writer-publicist, public figure, laureate of the Lenin and State Prizes, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, who lived in Borki from 1981 to 1994. The museum features various exhibitions, for example one about front-line writers, a room of peasant life of the 19th–20th centuries, I. A. Vasilyev’s study, a literary and musical parlor, and an exhibition hall. In addition, every year in May a frontline poetry festival is held in Borki, attended by writers and poets from different parts of Russia. The museum also hosts open days, concerts, literary evenings, round tables, master classes and other events.
