Boguchar District Local History Museum
About museum
The Boguchar Local History Museum is a place for collecting and studying the history and culture of the Boguchar district. It was opened in 1911 and houses many valuable exhibits. One of them is the tapestry "Tree of Life" by A. M. Kishchenko and G. Beltyukova. Special attention is given to the exhibition "Dolls in Folk Costumes", created by the three sisters of "Starinka" (V. Ya. Gorbacheva, G. Ya. Sysoeva, Z. Ya. Tkacheva). Their dolls are popular in many parts of the world, and a film about Russian folk traditions and Galina Sysoeva's collection was even made. The museum presents two displays: the first is an ethnographic collection of folk costumes and items of traditional everyday life, and the second is a sales hall where dolls and items of folk art and crafts can be purchased. Visitors can also be photographed on site wearing folk costume. The museum regularly hosts various events dedicated to folk art and traditions.
