About museum
Belokholunitsky Local History Museum was founded on September 23, 1980 and in 2010 moved into a historic building constructed in 1893 for the main office of the Kholunitsa factories. It houses over 7,000 historical items, including unique collections of artistic cast iron from the 18th–19th centuries, household items and furniture of employees of the Kholunitsa factories, clothing, tools and household belongings of Vyatka peasants, weapons, uniforms and decorations of participants in the First and Second World Wars. You can also see a collection of minerals and rocks, learn about animals living in the area, and examine mammoth remains. The museum conducts lectures, seminars, classes for schoolchildren, guided tours to memorable sites, exhibitions, master classes, puppet theatre performances and quests. Each year the museum is visited by more than 18,000 people. For its significant contribution to the development of national museum culture and on the occasion of the museum's 30th anniversary, it was awarded a diploma and a commemorative gold medal by the Russian Committee of UNESCO.
