Archaeological Museum of Novomoskovsk
About museum
On May 14, 1999, the Archaeological Museum — the first branch of the Novomoskovsk Historical and Art Museum — was opened in Novomoskovsk. It has two halls. One of them houses an exhibition dedicated to the region's history from the Stone Age to the 17th century. The exhibits for it were collected by archaeologist Oleg Zaidov, and there are now more than 500 items. The small hall regularly hosts exhibitions featuring works by children from youth clubs, paintings, graphic art, decorative and applied arts, and items from private collections. The museum holds evenings for various groups of the population: schoolchildren, boarding school residents, people with disabilities, and the elderly. The Novomoskovsk Literary Association also holds meetings here, along with programs, master classes, and lectures on folklore. The staff's mission is to preserve the museum's appeal for visitors who come to learn about the history and culture of their region.
