A lively and colorful exhibition "Doll Round Dance" has opened at the Toy Museum. It will be with us all summer, and you can visit the museum and see it until September 30, 2024.

Before us is truly a doll round dance, and the dolls in it are not ordinary, but were created by artisans from all corners of our homeland, and each doll represents an oblast, krai, city or village in Russia.

Doll Round Dance is an all-Russian traveling exhibition project that continues to grow and be replenished. Each doll here is an expression of love for native places, for nature, for cultural monuments, and for the history of a particular region.

The project began in 2020, when Irina Ivanovna Khabysheva, a People's Master of the Perm Krai and the leader of the online professional community "Pedagogues-Dollmakers", brought together 135 participants from different parts of Russia. Irina developed the doll's design, held master classes on its production and decoration techniques. The goal of the project is to give all participants the opportunity to present their small homeland (krai, city, village) in the image of a doll, to show the uniqueness, beauty and attractions of each region.

At the moment there are 140 dolls in the Round Dance. It is added to with each exhibition. Each doll carries images that tell about the history and beauty of a particular part of our country; they encourage people to learn about facts and attractions. "Round Dance" has been presented at many cultural venues across Russia, such as the XI International Exhibition "Art of the Doll" (Moscow), the S. T. Aksakov Memorial House-Museum (Ufa), the International Festival "Patchwork Masterpieces" (Moscow, Kolomna), the Interregional Patchwork Festival "Stezhki-Dorozhki" (Tyumen), the Ural Patchwork Festival (Perm) and others.

The project is so captivating and inspires further creativity that subsidiary exhibition projects have been developed, such as "Small Doll Round Dance", textile postcards "Greetings from...", souvenir round-dance dolls, the quilt "Patchwork Field". Currently, a lot of work is underway to implement the exhibition project "Russia's Glorious Sons".

Doll Round Dance is an exhibition about love. About love for Russia, for every corner of it – big and small, for its natural and man-made beauties. The exhibition is about love for creativity, about how one can describe the image of the Motherland in an artistic language, how through scraps and stitches to tell about what is dear and cherished.

It is about love for the doll – the one that carries the image of a person. The Russian person.
