“When the muses speak, the cannons fall silent”
On July 12 the whole country will commemorate the 81st anniversary of the tank battle at Prokhorovka, which changed the course not only of the Battle of Kursk but of the Great Patriotic War.
On this day all three Russian battlefields, long resounding from great battles, will ring in unison on the highest note of Victory, peace and goodwill!
On July 12, the Day of Military Glory of Russia, a concert by the Belgorod State Philharmonic will take place on the grounds of the Borodino Field Museum-Reserve.
As part of the celebratory events dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Prokhorovka tank battle, the Ministry of Culture of the Belgorod Region has initiated a project to organize concerts by professional and amateur ensembles at the museum-reserves of Russia’s three battlefields – Kulikovo, Borodino and Prokhorovka.
The choice of these sites for the ceremonial events is explained by the close ties between the three museums.
On the grounds of the Prokhorovka Field Museum-Reserve stands the Victory Monument – a 59-meter bell tower. Under its dome hangs a bell weighing 3.5 tons. Three times an hour its peals remind us of the great role of the three battlefields in Russia’s history. The first ringing honors the heroes of the Battle of Kulikovo, who confronted Mamai; the second commemorates the warriors who defended the Fatherland at Borodino Field; and the third praises the Soviet soldiers – participants in the Prokhorovka battle who turned the tide of the war against Nazi Germany.
You can not only listen to performers of various musical genres but also see a performance by the Dance Ensemble of the Belgorod State Philharmonic.
