The Polytechnic Museum is launching a course for teenagers "How to Film Science?". Classes will be held on Sundays from March 17 to April 7.
The science course is an educational outreach project of the Polytechnic Museum for teenagers aged 13–15. The course consists of four sessions in a single scientific area. Together with scientist-curators, participants work on a group or individual research project — they choose a topic, formulate hypotheses, and discuss the results of their work. At the end of each course there is a presentation of projects in various formats. These can be experiments, films, exhibitions, or full scientific papers.
In the spring semester the course "How to Film Science?" will be offered. The course will cover how cameras work; participants will learn how to shoot reports from laboratories and record interviews with scientists and experts. They will also learn how to communicate scientific achievements clearly and engagingly. Most importantly, participants will get plenty of practice and will produce an episode of their own popular science program. To do this they will need to assign roles, choose the topic, format, and content of the episode, and film it.
The course is aimed at teens who are interested in popular science media and want to spend their time usefully and enjoyably.
