Exhibition "Power and Status of the Voivodes of Tomsk"
About exhibition
A project from a series dedicated to the history of the founding and study of Tomsk. The idea of this exhibition is to tell about the people who governed the city of Tomsk during the first two centuries of its existence, as well as the events that took place on Siberian soil in the 17th and 18th centuries. The exhibition features both artifacts from archaeological excavations on Voskresenskaya Hill and reconstructions of clothing, household items, and administrative records. A separate section of the exhibition is devoted to chess, reflecting not only the nobility’s and the service class’s enthusiasm for the game but also themes of geopolitics. Visitors will see a copy of an authentic 17th-century document about the construction of the town of Tomsk and will get to know the voivodes and their contributions to Tomsk’s history by leafing through the "Velvet Book of Tomsk Voivodes," specially produced by the staff. The central installation of the porch that once adorned the voivodes' chambers in the Tomsk Kremlin will provide a great spot for commemorative photographs.
