Naval Museum of the Northern Fleet
About museum
On 16 October 1946 the Naval Museum of the Northern Fleet was opened in the Officers' House building in the city of Murmansk. The museum's exhibition began with materials on the Defence of the Soviet Arctic during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. In the following years the museum presented exhibits covering the history of the development of nuclear submarines, surface ships and naval aviation, as well as the Northern Fleet as a whole, from 1693 to the present day. The museum's collections include ship models, weaponry, flags and banners, personal belongings, awards, documents, photographs, maps and works of art illustrating the history of the development of Russia's Northern Fleet.
