About museum
The Zimovnikovsky Local History Museum was founded in 2000 and has since managed to collect more than 6,000 items in its holdings. Each year the museum is visited by over 5,000 people. The exhibitions introduce visitors to the history of the Zimovnikovsky District from ancient times, the everyday life and ethnography of the late 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries, and its military and labor glory. In addition, there is an exhibition dedicated to the region's flora and fauna. The museum hosts guided tours, events and lectures, as well as exhibitions from other museums, private collections, and works by artists and local craftsmen. The museum is involved in publishing activities, issuing books about the local area and collections of poems by Zimovnikovsky poets. It plays an important role in the cultural life of the district, in educating the younger generation, and in preserving historical monuments.
