Stepan Erzia Museum Exhibition Hall
About museum
On January 10, 1960, the Mordovian Republican Picture Gallery named after F. V. Sychkov was opened in the former fire station building on Sovetskaya Street in the city of Saransk. In 1976, on the 100th anniversary of Stepan Erzia's birth, a new building was constructed to house the museum's exhibitions, and the gallery's premises, after renovation, were used to host temporary exhibitions by artists (V. D. Ilyukhin, V. A. Popkov, V. A. Bednov, N. P. Rozhkov and others), as well as republican and all-Russian projects ("Siyazh-Art", "Great Volga", "Young Volga", "Russia — My Motherland", All-Russian Sculpture Exhibition, etc.). In May 2018, major renovation of the hall was completed. The Stepan D. Erzia Museum's work plan is now supplemented with projects organized in the renewed Exhibition Hall. Exhibitions showcasing the achievements of contemporary Russian painting and sculpture are held here on an ongoing basis.
