Exhibition Hall of the Local History Museum
About museum
The building that houses the exhibition hall is an architectural monument of federal significance. It was built in 1908-1910 and, before the 1917 Revolution, was the estate of the prominent miller Martinyan Vasilyevich Chernukhin. The exhibition consists of several sections. In the "Merchant's Drawing Room" visitors can learn about merchant life, antique furniture and household items. In the "Zemstvo Pharmacy" section you can find out how ancestors were treated, where medicines were stored, and what medicine in Syzran was like in the early 20th century. An integral part of the exhibition is the "Music Parlor", which displays musical instruments from the museum's collection and items related to composer Arkady Ostrovsky. The Hall of Military Glory allows visitors to learn about pages of Russia's military history, such as the conflict on Damansky Island, the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya, and the accidents involving the submarines K-19 and Kursk.
