Verkhnetoyemsky Local History Museum
About museum
On May 9, 1985, the Verkhnetoyemsky Museum was opened in the village of Verkhnyaya Toyma; it was created on the basis of the Room of Military and Labor Glory. From 1985 to 1991 the museum was headed by Maria Petrovna Aristova and Zinaida Petrovna Nekrasova. In 1994 it was decided to transform the museum into a municipal museum with its center in Verkhnyaya Toyma and branches in Voznesenskoye and Kondratovskaya. In 2010 buildings on Kulizhsky Street were transferred to the museum, and in 2018 two hospital buildings. Today the museum's holdings include an ethnographic collection represented by towels, clothing details and gold embroidery by local craftswomen from the late 19th to early 20th century. The museum also has a photo collection consisting of images from the 19th and 20th centuries, and has continued to photograph places and events since 2008.
