Vereya Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The Vereya Historical and Local Lore Museum was established in 1996 in the house of merchant Mityushin, connected to the building of the former county school. It is located on a high bank of the Protva River, near an ancient settlement, the Nativity Cathedral and the chapel of the Great Martyr Paraskeva Pyatnitsa. The museum has 7 halls, two of which are permanent: a historical-ethnographic one and one dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. The exhibits include minerals, ancient tools, items from the Patriotic War of 1812, decanters, wine and beer bottles, clocks, irons, mortars, coffee grinders and grain grinders, homespun clothing, handicrafts and figurines. In spring and summer a unique exhibition of paintings made from seeds by Zinaida and Galina Korenyevy is on display. Vereya, with its rich history, beautiful landscapes and ancient churches, has long attracted tourists.
