Veydelevsky Local History Museum
About museum
\r\nThe Veydelevsky Local History Museum was founded in August 1977 in an old building that previously housed the people's court. The museum displays exhibits of ethnography, the Great Patriotic War (World War II), a collection of insects and butterflies, and taxidermied birds and animals. The archaeological collection includes unique museum items: a figurine of a female deity of the Sarmatian culture (1st–3rd centuries AD) and a figurine of a warrior of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture (8th–10th centuries). The museum also features a collection of telephone sets and philatelic items (stamps, envelopes, postcards) from the 20th–21st centuries. Meetings, evenings, celebrations, excursions and museum lessons for schoolchildren are organized, and scientific and practical conferences are held. In 2008 a new exhibition with sound and multimedia support was opened. The museum staff invite visitors to learn about the history of the Veydelevsky region, its culture and local traditions on a costumed tour.
