Uchaly Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
The Uchaly Historical and Local History Museum was founded in 1962 and since 1980 has been a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The museum traces the major stages in the development and formation of the town of Uchaly and the Uchaly district. The main part of the museum's collection is devoted to the history of gold mining and the mining-and-smelting industry in the region, from the mid-18th century to the present day. Special attention is given to the exhibition 'Ethnographic Collection and Everyday Life of the Bashkir People', which presents more than 400 items, including women's jewelry made of coral and silver coins, chest ornaments, nakosniki, bracelets, kashmau, and household utensils with carving and painting. Travelling exhibitions dedicated to the commemorative dates of the district and the town are also held.
