About museum

The museum is located in the house where, presumably, in the first half of the 1830s the Decembrist Stepan Mikhailovich Semenov lived in exile. Originally, from its founding in 1963 until the early 1970s, the people’s local history museum occupied a room in the district library named after Ivan Pushchin. It became part of the Sverdlovsk Regional Local History Museum in 1981.
\r\n
\r\nThe museum tells the story of one of the first towns in Siberia. Here you can learn what links the 400-year-old town to the legendary Yermak Timofeyevich, take a journey into the mercantile past of Turinsk, and feel the Siberian spirit of the surrounding lands. The exhibition is displayed in 6 halls: «Nature of the Turinsk Region», «History of the Turinsk Region», «History of the Merchant Class of Turinsk Uyezd», «Peasant House. Trades and Crafts of the Turinsk Region», «People of Turinsk»
