Tuymazinsky Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The museum was opened in 1973 at the initiative of Maxim Alekseevich Shubenkov and was housed in a small barrack-type building. In 1980, premises on the second floor of the former State Bank were allocated, and in 1989, by order of the Council of Ministers of the Bashkir ASSR, the museum became a branch of the Bashkir United Museum; Liliya Nykmukhametovna Kadyrova was appointed director. Initially the number of exhibits was small, but two halls were opened on February 23, 1990. Since that time the museum has become known as a unique institution that preserves rare and interesting exhibits. Visitors from the town and district often come for guided tours and lectures, and out-of-town visitors are attracted by the intimate atmosphere and vividness of the displays. Children and schoolchildren are most interested in the hall "Flora and Fauna of the Republic of Bashkortostan", while older visitors are drawn to the history of their native land as told through people and events. The hall "Material Culture of the Peoples of the Republic of Bashkortostan" attracts the attention of all visitors. Residents of Tuymazy and guests of the town enjoy the art exhibitions organized by the museum.
