Sobolevo Museum
About museum
On October 12, 1972, a decision was made to open a People's district local-history museum in the village of Sobolevo by resolution of the bureau of the Sobolevo District Committee of the CPSU and the Executive Committee of the District Council of Workers' Deputies. In March 1974 a house at 10a Komsomolskaya Street was commissioned, and the museum was located in the second half of that building. In April of the same year the family of the artist G. S. Viktorov moved into the first half of the house to create the museum. In 1993 the museum moved to the building of the first school of Sobolevo village, but in 2009 that building was declared unsafe. As a result, the museum relocated to a new address — 46 Naberezhnaya Street — into the offices of the newspaper "Rassvet", where it remains to this day. The museum has six exhibition halls housing 500 exhibits, and also offers tours, lectures, and local-history classes. In addition, district competitions to identify talented people are held at least four times a year.
