About museum
The Historical and Local Lore Museum opened its doors to visitors on December 25, 2002. At the time of opening there were two exhibitions: "General information about the district and the town" and "The district from ancient times to 1941". In 2004 an exhibition dedicated to the Great Patriotic War (World War II) was added, and in 2006 a hall presenting the district's development from the post-war years to the present was opened. In 2009 the "Russian izba" exhibition was opened, with additions to the museum's collections including towels, punched and embroidered curtains, clay pots, and items made of wood, birch bark and metal. Currently the museum's collections include about 8,000 items, of which more than 6,000 are in the main fund. Here you can find documents from the Great Patriotic War, parish registers, the books by N. M. Karamzin "Peter the Great", a psalter, the Orenburg Diocesan Gazette (1901), the Manifesto on the Abolition of Serfdom, the Grade I passport of the Karachel school (1929), and the admission register of the Karachel two-grade school (1907–1923).
