Shatura Local History Museum
About museum
More than 30 years ago the establishment of a local history museum began in Shatura. The museum's exhibits include historical information about the area, material on the district's natural environment, and the deeds of its residents during World War II and the Civil War. The first guided tour took place on September 9, 1989, and the director was Anatoly Nikolaevich Kryukov. In 2008 the museum was moved to a new building on Komsomolskaya Square and opened to visitors on September 6. The museum features three halls: "Nature of the Shatura Region", "Peasant Life and Antiquities", and "Hall of Labor and Military Glory of the Shatura District". Here you can learn about the history and culture of the Shatura District.
