On December 25, 2015 the Saint Petersburg Museum of Bread opened its doors at a new location: 2 Mikhailova Street. It was founded in 1988 under the name 'Museum of the History of Bread Baking of the Ministry of Grain Products of the RSFSR.' In 1993 the state institution 'Saint Petersburg Museum of Bread' was transferred to the administration of the Committee for Culture and Tourism. The museum's collections were filled with photographs of buildings and bakery workshops, archival documents, memoirs, books and household items, items related to the history and culture of bread production and consumption, as well as objects of science and technology. The museum building was constructed in 1829 to a design by architect M. A. Liven and is a monument of wooden urban architecture of Saint Petersburg from the first half of the 19th century. In 2017 the museum celebrated its 30th anniversary, and it continues to collect holdings related to the museum's profile.
