Kushva Local History Museum
About museum
The history of Kushva's museums begins in the 18th century. At the Goroblagodat Mine there was a natural history museum. It was located in a pavilion by Mount Blagodat and was visited by members of the higher social classes of the Goroblagodat mining district and by high-ranking persons visiting the Kushva plant. During the years of the Revolution and Civil War it was closed. The second museum, the local history museum, was opened in 1925. The museum was housed in a three-storey building at 48 Pervomayskaya Street. In 1954 it was closed. The third museum was opened on July 19, 1969. The museum hosted permanent exhibitions: "Nature", "Mount Blagodat", "Everyday Life of the Residents of the Mining-Plant Settlement", and "Soviet Kushva." Traveling exhibitions, local history classes for city schoolchildren, and tours for visitors were held here. The modern museum is located in a two-storey mansion built in the 20th century. Currently the museum is undergoing renovation. The museum holds temporary exhibitions, activities for schoolchildren, and public events. The museum's collection contains more than 5,000 items.
