District Historical and Local History Museum, Akhtubinsk
About museum
The District Historical and Local History Museum was opened in 1995 and immediately became one of the main cultural centers of Akhtubinsk. The museum's primary goal is to educate the younger generation based on national culture, historical values, and Russia's past. Today the museum houses over 6,300 exhibits, displayed in two halls: the Hall of Military Glory and the Local History Hall. In addition, the museum regularly expands its collection and participates in various competitions. For example, in 2014 it received a grant for "Best Cultural Institution of the Astrakhan Region" in the category "Best Museum." Visiting this museum is an excellent opportunity to learn about the region's history from ancient times to the present.
