District Historical Museum
About museum
The District Historical Museum was founded in 1975 by educator Semyon Mikhailovich Cherevan. In 1987, by decision of the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR, the museum was awarded the honorary title of 'People's Museum'. In 2001 the museum was granted the status of a municipal cultural institution, which was officially confirmed by a decree of the head of Kushchevsky District. Each year the museum is visited by more than 7,000 people, who are offered the opportunity to take part in 300 intellectual and educational events. The museum's collection grows steadily by 150-200 items a year and currently includes more than 8,000 exhibits: paintings, books, applied art objects, household items, ethnographic materials, numismatics, documents, printed materials, veterans' personal files, and photographic materials. Each museum exhibit preserves the history and culture of the district.
