Museum of the History of Gold Mining, Zeya

About museum

\r\nOn July 13, 2001, in the city center on Mukhina Street, the Museum of the History of Gold Mining of the Amur Region was opened, which is the only museum of its kind in the region. The building was constructed in 1911. The museum presents permanent exhibitions dedicated to the history of gold mining in the Zeya district. They display items and documents that give an idea of the establishment, development, and current state of the gold mining industry in the Zeya district, as well as the first placer mines, the modern prospecting artels of gold miners, the equipment, the people, and their daily life. The creation of the museum was inspired by the idea of restoring historical justice: the younger generation should become acquainted with the former greatness of the Zeya district - the center of gold mining in pre-revolutionary Russia. The greatest assistance in creating the museum and arranging the exhibitions was provided by the artels "Vostok-1" and "Maya".
