Volga Region Museum of Railway Technology
About museum
In August 2010 the Volga Region Museum of Railway Technology was opened on the training grounds of the Samara State University of Railways. This location was chosen deliberately, as students of various specialties train here, and the nearby Bezymyanka station received trains carrying evacuated factories during the Great Patriotic War. The museum displays steam and electric locomotives, as well as carriages and an administrative building — the Dashkovo station building, built in 1874. It was named after Princess Y. R. Dashkova, president of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Ufa children's railway is also located at the museum for young visitors. The exhibition provides an insight into the development of railway technology and the country's historical development.
